For this Missouri pork processor, Hydro MicroScreen™ removed 79% of particulate BOD, 92% of TSS, and 90% of oils and greases.
A large Missouri pork processor was looking to improve the efficiency of their wastewater treatment process when looking to upgrade their treatment capacity. They wanted to reduce Total Suspended Solids (TSS), particulate Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD), and Oils and Grease (OG) to help avoid surcharges. Their existing facility included an equalization well, drum screens, Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF), and aerobic sludge lagoons.
Samples were gathered from the influent going into and effluent coming out of the Hydro MicroScreen™ system and sent to a laboratory for independent performance evaluation. Dewatered cake solids output from the integrated dewatering system averaged 39% total solids – presenting significant savings in solids handling and volume sent to disposal sites as well as the opportunity to sell rather than landfill these by-products.
Additionally, the Hydro MicroScreen™ system’s average removal rates were 79% of particulate BOD, 92% of TSS, and 90% of oils and greases. The small footprint Hydro MicroScreen™ will reduce the strain on existing wastewater treatment systems at the plant or replace elements of it entirely.
