Overview

Overview

The Hydro-Logic™ Weather Logger is a robust, remote weather monitoring system that provides real-time information about rainfall and other climatic conditions.

Operating as a single monitor or as part of a networked data gathering system, the Hydro-Logic™ Weather Logger provides hydrologists, engineers and emergency standby staff with visibility of upstream weather conditions, delivering alerts of imminent downstream flood events and providing the long-term data to enable meaningful climate change monitoring, analaysis and forecasting.

Working as the front end of a Smart Monitoring system, when combined with a telemetry system the Hydro-Logic™ Weather Logger provides real-time flood alerts and early warning, and exceptional battery lifetimes of up to seven years mean that it can be left to operate even in remote or difficult-to-access locations without the need for regular support or maintenance.

Typical sensors:

  • Piezoelectric rainfall intensity sensors
  • Weighing rain gauges
  • Tipping bucket rain gauges
  • Wind speed and direction sensors
  • Temperature sensors
  • Relative humidity sensors
  • Barometric pressure sensors

Applications:

  • Flood alert and early warning
  • Flood event response planning
  • Flood mitigation and protection activities
  • Environmental and climate change analysis
Benefits

Benefits

Get urgent early warning of flood conditions

When it comes to flooding, the best indicator for what is going to happen downstream is what is already happening upstream. Sending automatic alerts when a predetermined trigger point is reached, the Hydro-Logic™ Weather Logger is an upstream monitor that uses upstream conditions to provide early warning of downstream flooding—giving responders the time they need to conduct critical flood preparation, mitigation and public safety activities.

Cut your weather monitoring system operation costs

Weather monitoring systems often need to be installed in remote or difficult-to-access locations, and will be expected to operate continuously. Regular battery replacement increases the cost of maintenance and operation. With industry-leading battery lifetimes of up to seven years, the Hydro-Logic™ Weather Logger keeps operating for longer—cutting support requirements and enabling you to direct your support teams onto other activities.

How it works

How it works

  1. Following a site and installation assessment the the Hydro-Logic™ Weather Logger—or a network of loggers—is installed on site.

  2. The logger is calibrated and set to record and transmit data according to application-specific requirements, such as when climate conditions reach a certain point.

  3. Triggered by the predetermined environmental criteria, the data logger collects data autonomously and either transmits it automatically to a telemetry system, or houses it until support personnel return to manually download the data.
