Learn how we're dedicated to making a positive impact through our actions and our business.
Our core purpose is the development and supply of products that offer effective low-energy solutions to the challenges of water management and, in turn, contribute to sustainable development and environmental improvement.
In addition to helping our customers minimise their environmental impact, we take our own corporate responsibility seriously, and are committed to minimising the adverse impacts of our operations and supporting the communities in which we operate.
All of our employees are provided, as part of their induction programme, with a briefing on our business, our strategy and approach, outlining what we stand for and the values that we embody and exhibit in our day-to-day business. Our employee information also defines and reinforces our core values and sets out our key policies on quality, health and safety and the environment.
Our business is founded upon the talent, commitment and enthusiasm of our employees. We believe that, in order to deliver excellent products and services to our customers, we need to provide a safe, stimulating and supportive environment for our people. In 2014 an all-employee satisfaction survey was undertaken for the first time. The results of the survey, which were very positive, have been used to ensure that we focus on important areas for employees in our human resources development. The survey, which is undertaken every two years, will be repeated during 2016.
We are an equal opportunity employer. Our policy is to provide equal opportunities for everyone in respect of recruitment, benefits, training, placement and advancement. We respect cultural diversity, encourage inclusiveness and recognise the value and benefits of a diverse global workforce. Our commitment to equal opportunities ensures that all our employees, regardless of race, gender, nationality, age, disability, sexual orientation, religion and background, have the opportunity to develop to their full potential with us. This policy is enshrined within our Employee Handbook and all new employees are fully briefed on employment policies as part of their induction training.
We manage our activities to avoid causing any unnecessary or unacceptable risks to health and safety to our employees in the workplace or to the public as a result of our activities. To help us do this all employees are trained in our health and safety policy. They are either involved in assessing, or provided with detailed instruction on, the risks affecting their particular operation, and the appropriate procedures and mitigating actions to be observed in undertaking that role or particular operation.
In addition to an annual review of our health and safety policy, our Board of Directors reviews health and safety performance each quarter. In the UK we have gained OHSAS 18001 standard and, as we continue to develop additional lines of service-related business, we will maintain and extend this standard.
Our products contribute to sustainable development and environmental improvement, enabling our customers to implement environmentally sympathetic water quality and water quantity management solutions. Many of our products operate without power and with minimal maintenance, helping our customers to achieve greater energy efficiency and reduced carbon emissions.
We manage our own impact on the environment through an environmental policy as part of the ISO 14001 standard, and all operations are covered by this accreditation. By implementing ISO 14001 we build on our many positive contributions by measuring, controlling and, where practical, reducing our environmental impacts.
We maintain our support for community and charity organisations, including our ongoing partnership with WaterAid, whose vision is of a world where everyone has access to safe water and sanitation. Our relationship with WaterAid started in 2006, and our contributions have helped to support community projects in Nepal, Mali and more generally across Africa. During 2015, our employees elected to support WaterAid’s general fundraising through the projects that they undertook, which included the return of our longstanding ‘It’s a Knockout’ event as well as a cycle ride challenge to Paris.
