Downstream Defender Selected for NY Wheel Project
A 6-ft Downstream Defender® stormwater treatment separator has been selected as part of the New York Wheel project currently underway in St. George on Staten Island, NY. The developer of the 630 foot ferris wheel, Meir Laufer, was heavily influenced by the London Eye and the height and location of the structure promises to be one of the city's and country's biggest landmark attractions.
With panoramic views of the NYC skyline, the site is sure to attact many trash-generating visitors making Downstream Defender® a perfect choice for the coastal site; a 6-ft system has a peak flow rate of 8.0 CFS with high floatable capture while working well in tidal conditions where tail water is an issue.
