A compact, integrated headworks solution that simplifies wastewater pre‑treatment while protecting downstream processes.
The Noggerath® Combined Unit TOP and TOP‑F bring together multiple inlet works processes in a single system, delivering efficient removal of solids, grit and optionally fats, oils and grease. By combining these stages into one compact unit, it reduces footprint, simplifies installation and improves overall plant performance.
The Noggerath® Combined Unit TOP is a complete headworks system designed to replace separate pre treatment equipment at wastewater treatment works. Installed at the inlet stage, it integrates fine screening, washing, compaction, dewatering and grit separation within a single, space saving unit. The TOP F variant also includes fat, oil and grease (FOG) removal for enhanced treatment performance.
Wastewater enters the unit either by gravity or pumping and first passes through the screening section where solids are removed, washed and compacted. The screened flow then moves into a sedimentation zone where grit and sand are separated and conveyed for further handling. In the TOP F configuration, an additional stage removes fats, oils and grease from the effluent.
The system is designed for flexibility and performance, offering aerated or non aerated configurations, above ground installation and compatibility with a range of screen technologies, including step screens, fine sieves and rotary drum screens.
• Pre treatment for municipal wastewater treatment works
• Industrial wastewater treatment
• Mechanical pre treatment for membrane plants (MBR)
• Septic sludge treatment
As a first line of defence, the unit removes debris and grit at the inlet stage, preventing damage and reducing the risk of clogging in downstream processes, helping maintain efficient operation.
By integrating multiple treatment stages into one system, the Combined Unit minimises footprint and eliminates the need for separate equipment, simplifying design and installation.
Available in aerated or non‑aerated configurations and compatible with different screen types, the system can be tailored to site‑specific requirements and performance goals.
The system can remove up to 95% of grit particles down to 0.2 mm, improving downstream treatment performance and reducing wear on equipment.
1. Pumped or by gravity, the wastewater enters into the screen section. Coarse solids are removed from the effluent, then washed, compacted and dewatered.
2. The coarse solids are then discharged into a container and the screened effluent is discharged into a wider tank section for grit and sand sedimentation.
3. The grit can then be conveyed to a grit classifier and can be further washed prior to disposal into a container.
4. For the TOP-F system, the effluent is then treated for fat, oil and grease (FOG) removal.
