Sustainable Drainage Systems for Developers
Developers have difficult targets to hit for new homes, but unclear direction and requirements for nutrient neutrality, the need to include Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) and meeting Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) objectives are all bringing increasing pressure to bear.
However, these objectives are needed to ensure that we mitigate the effects of climate change and improve the environment. If we want to have safe, sustainably built homes which are future proof, side-stepping or bypassing them is not an option.
Natural SuDS such as ponds, swales and detention basins provide green space, biodiversity and flood prevention, and can be part of green infrastructure.
While this is all good, they can take up land that could otherwise be used for additional housing, parking or community amenity space.
Add a touch of grey to blue green infrastructure to unlock the full potential of Sustainable Drainage Systems.
Download our guide and find out how using a mixture of natural and proprietary SuDS, green, blue and grey, can often enable or enhance an overall drainage scheme and save on land-take, helping to ensure that a site is profitable.
